Bishop served as a pastor for 15 years at Elevation Church. During that time, he worked in various roles including overseeing all ministries and ministry staff, establishing and growing small Bible study groups, and preparing and educating adults for Christian leadership and ministry within the church. Bishop also served as a campus pastor in both North Carolina and Toronto. 

From 2016 to 2020, and while simultaneously serving at Elevation Church, he worked as a conference speaker and leadership coach, providing leadership development to individuals and organizations both inside and outside of the church.
 
Prior to joining Elevation Church, Bishop was an 8th grade math and science teacher at Crest Middle School in Shelby, North Carolina. 
 
“I have always been a learner and have often been placed in positions to teach. Being back in an academic environment with an assignment to help develop people’s spiritual lives, feels like the perfect mile-marker in my life’s journey. I could not be more excited to be here at this time doing what I’ve been given to do,” he said.
 
Bishop became a Christian in college after meeting his wife, Heather. Prior to that, he considered himself an atheist. 
 
“I worked hard to overcome doubts and renew my mind with a Christian worldview,” he added.
 
Bishop has a Bachelor of Science from Gardner-Webb University and a Masters of Divinity from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. His new role at Westminster Christian School aims to develop and equip students with the spiritual tools necessary to become both intellectual and spiritual leaders.

Bishop and his wife have three children, two biological and one adopted: Jeremiah, Micah and Hannah.
