Light the Night by Jessica Forbes, Sophomore Class VP
Thousands of bobbing red lights decorated the night sky at Merrick Park underneath City Hall on October 24, 2009. Participants from different schools came together to support cures for cancers in the "Light the Night" walk-a-thon. At Westminster Christian, "Walk with Taylor" was the slogan set this year because Taylor Kniseley, a WCS graduate and leukemia survivor, was healthy enough to walk. Sixty participants from WCS wore "Team Taylor Light the Night" t-shirts and took part in the walk. With $1700 raised from the event, Taylor's mother, brother, Matt, and sister, Rachel, showed their appreciation to everyone the entire night. The WCS high school community service club sponsored this event and had a fundraiser at the school which made the event possible for WCS students to participate.
