UPDATE: Haiti Earthquake Relief
Westminster filled FOUR containers for Haiti. One thousand cases of canned foods, 200 cases of evaporated milk, 3,500 individual gallons of water, and over 6,000 cases of bottled water were donated by the Westminster community and its partners. Palmer Trinity filled one container. Mr. D'Adesky informed us that the containers were loaded on the first commercial seafreight vessel to Haiti, and were offloaded last week in Port-au-Prince, using a make-shift ramp that he made with the U.S. Military.

Are You Interested in a Transportation Service?
Westminster would like to offer a transportation service for families who live in the areas of Coral Gables, South Miami, North Pinecrest, Homestead and Key Largo for the 2010-2011 school year. The service would provide one-way service in the morning to school, on a daily basis, from centralized drop-off and pick-up locations in each of the neighborhoods mentioned.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Miss Joyce McKimson on January 5, 2010, due to complications related to her battle with cancer. A beloved first grade teacher, and a dedicated servant to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Miss McKimson helped mold and shape the lives of Westminster students for 22 years.

The fifth grade class will be enjoying the sweet taste of success, having earned the highest Annual Fund participation in Mrs. Thompson's Pancake Breakfast Challenge. In addition to their parents' generous gifts, many fifth grade students made personal gifts by doing extra chores, or breaking into their piggy banks to show their love for Westminster Christian School, and support of Christian education.

Eighth Grade English Students Receive Award
WCS Eighth Grade English students were awarded the Poetic Achievement Award, Fall 2009 by Creative Communications. This award is given to schools whose students' entries to the Poetry Contest were of exceptionally high merit and represents the top 10 percent of the schools who entered the contest. This achievement qualifies WCS to apply for one of the $250 Language Arts Grants.

ES Music Teaching Technigues featured in UM School of Music Video
The WCS second and third grade classes had the distinct honor of being selected to participate in a video produced through the University of Miami Frost School of Music. The video demonstrated specific teaching/learning techniques used to teach young students how to improvise using tonal and rhythmic patterns.
